Women's Diagnostic
Ultrasound Center

Not just to see if it's a
boy or a girl.
Sonograms and ultrasound services at Genesis OB/GYN are provided by board certified OB/GYN physicians, with special insight into the subtleties of female anatomy and fetal development.

The Center is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM) to perform first, second and third trimester obstetrical ultrasounds, and gynecological and abdominal ultrasounds. AIUM accreditation is the hallmark of an ultrasound practice that meets nationally accepted standards of patient care, demonstrates consistent excellence, and is current with the latest ultrasound technology.

Sonograms during pregnancy: Sonograms are done when medically indicated (to assist us in determining your due date, to check on the growth of the baby, to assess bleeding, to survey the baby and placenta, etc). We only order sonograms and ultrasounds for medical reasons.

Ultrasound Exam Preparation
Ultrasounds - no preparation is required
Pelvic Ultrasounds - Pelvic ultrasounds are usually performed in two parts. The exam begins with a Transabdominal Ultrasound which requires a full bladder. (Please do not use the restroom prior to coming to your appointment.) Once the required images are obtained you will be allowed to empty your bladder before we begin the Transvaginal Ultrasound.
If only a Transabdominal Ultrasound is ordered, a full bladder is required. Please drink at least 32oz. of water 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment.
Abdominal (Gallbladder) Ultrasounds
Please do not have anything to eat or drink for 8 hours prior to exam. These scans can be scheduled for early morning if desired.
